Certainly not a perfect record for either ... but as we've established it does happen occasionally regardless of the brand.
Perhaps even ultra premium shocks have the occasional leak, so lets all stick with cheap just in case.
As for "cut price" at least the FOX can be rebuilt - makes the cheap option not so attractive when you have to throw them away.

$550ish for 4 Bilstein 5100, life around 40000km (conservatively) for a good shock. $550ish for one ARB, life with a rebuild, forever?? I did 200000km in my XJ in 12 years. So it would take around 10 years of shock replacements before I reached the price of a single set of these ARB shocks at 4 times the price.
That just doesn't make economical sense for me when I would never adjust my shocks, or even drive to the level where I would need the adjustment. Of course if you NEED the adjust-ability or have the cash to blow then why not, but like Wooders says, a lot of people buy the bling shocks just because they are bling and never really need them.
As an aside the Bilstein 5150 did many kms on my XJ, including the cape and the corrugations of the main drag up there and not a hint of a leak, they were a great shock.
Cheers
