gentlemen, I hope to assemble a D44 thats been in an XJ, to substitute my bodgy, leaky, D35.

will post up pics and questions later, but while do a little googling I came across this;

it is old, but so am I... followed recommended Forum protocol by checking Archives, and using (seemingly) most appropriate existing thread (rear D44)

rather than opening a new one

hopefully there is still some expertise on here that can comment when I post pics and ask questions, as it is completely in pieces, and I have limited experience with diff assembly.

Well I have an XJ 44 and it was a bolt in. The major upgrade is they don't use C Clips and the axles are bigger. That is the weak point of other options. I would use a TJ 44 but I am unsure about the track and brake compatibility. My 44 runs 10 inch drums instead of nines with a different slave that works the rear brakes easier giving me a total brake upgrade.
With work and research, anything is possible.
