Yes fingers crossed because your's is the first case I've heard of that hasn't worked perfectly in either the Jeep or ML270 threads I used to follow.

To bad you didn't smash a passenger mirror, I have a spare one sitting around somewhere in the shed.

Thanks again for all the help I've had and the offer of the mirror.
I just ordered one from a scrap yard £65 delivered, that was an expensive test run.

I just tapped into the wires at the back of the EGR solenoid plug and ran a seperate wire to the wire coming from the MAF sensor harness at the air filter, and plugged the vac hose with a bolt, the pipe on the egr end got a wine cork stuck over it and never had any problem following festers instructions, wire colours matched. the plug was disconnected though, i do seem to recall someone leaving it plugged in.

After all these years though it's probably not worth the effort as the damage would more than likely be done, need to ripp off the manifold and clean everything up to get any advantage from the defeat.
