I like the look of your modification. I have just returned from 18,000 Km from Melbourne to Darwin WA & back home via the Nullabore towing 3 Ton of Caravan with our 3.0 CDR Merc. We had no overheat problems. It gets up to 2 small divisions past half way sometimes on hard pulls but drops back quickly once heading back down the other side of hills. I usually drive it in 4th gear.

Hi bushtracker
Had a wh new since 2006. Its towing ability is the best thing about the vehicle. The cooling system has always had no trouble with my 20 ft van. Its been up down some pretty big hills thru kangaroo valley hawsbury atherton cooktown snowy mtns etc without ant prob. Motor and auto and cooling all terrific.
I had murchison suspension added which i am pleased with.
