I have a similar wobble problem with my 99 XJ and also get a creak from the right hand front suspension when parking and thought it might have been the pittman arm bush instead of the upper suspension arm bush. Are these easy to replace yourself or should I leave it to a mechanic?

I took my XJ in for a pedders suspension check. If your feeling lazy or not savy with steering/suspension but handy on the tools for $14 they can usually tell you what needs replacing - and how much they will do it for (always good for a laugh).

Have you checked the toe-in. It is easy to do yourself. 40psi is to much about 32 is right. I would check to make sure you dont have a faulty shock. How worn are the Nancans. This sort of problem, death wobble or giroscopic presesion is usually caused by having some play of slop in the suspension or trackbar or steering. Try swapping the front tyres with somebody else. I had some nancans on the corrolla once and as they wore down they were awful.

since getting my coils replaced ive been getting some SERIOUS death wobbles (read: pulling into emergency lane at full shake...)

got home today, fed up, had large screwdriver handy so probed the LCA's and there was about 5mm movement side to side - no fkn shit its doing that. Fair enough the tracking it out due to panhard rod, but i think the susp place didnt tighten them enough when they installed springs

Optical, how much lift do you have? Are you running stock control arms, have you had the caster sorted by spacing the lower control arms forward? If you haven't then it will get death wobble.

Cheers
Steve

If you look at the rear of the lower control arms you'll see two nuts on threads, these are the adjusters. Loosen off the main bolts, move the arm forward and put in some shims and then tighten the adjusters. GoJeep has details on his site for adjusting castor I think, It'll certainly help with fixing the death wobble.

Cheers
Steve
