I'm not having a go at you or the bloke behind this.

Like the 4wd Action campaign I just don't think any of the public have any chance of success without providing a proven environmental management strategy. And even then it can get canned by a department of latte sipping prius driving greenies who've never set foot in the places they're regulating. It doesn't help that recreational 4wding is becoming a bit of an anti-social activity and viewed as hooligans/hoons in the public eye.

We will play the games of the politicians once it gets to that stage...
If this gets no where atleast I can say that i tried to voice my opinion through the right channels.
I'm disgusted by these hoons that ruin the bush, i have a mate who likes "spinning wheels" and i give him a mouthful everytime he does it, havn't wheeled with him in awhile.....
Thats why sadly i think "controlled access" is the only viable option, to atleast gain some access back......
but its not a popular option as that would mean being a club member.
99% of people rubbished the suggestion when i raised it on the 4wdaction discussion, yet not one person raised another option to solve, the issues as to why the places are being gated up!
To think we can tell the government its their responsibility and they should "just let us back in" won't work i know that....
You can't blame the government for taking the easy and cheaper way out, especially if bush users are in the minority!

Aren't there already tracks only accessible by club members? I think in an alpine area maybe near falls creek. I just remember seeing a sign ages ago. Seems like a good way to go imo. Better than being closed anyway.

i think all 4wd's using offroad tracks should have to have a large White ID number on the qauter panel window and a hotline should be set-up to report people whom cause excessive damage to tracks.

Also being a member of a club and/or attending a info session every 6months or so is not a bad idea? Maybe a windscreen sticker to validate your last info session?

It's similar to the recreational fishing licence needed ( might just be WA?)

I think most clubs and possibly popular forums ( AJOR ) would be more than happy to hold track maintenance days when possible.
Although in the end it all comes down to the person behind the wheel.
