No he won't get more down travel than standard because a) his shocks are going to be the exact same length and b) his swaybars will be setup the same.

It might appear as if it has more uptravel but thats because of the higher height the body will now be sitting at.

Thanks for that guys. So the bottom line is that I should not need relocation brackets, and get adjustable panhard rods instead, when needed, and new rear sway bar links and rear ones to front.
I'll definately do shocks in the near future but I've got to slide everything past the 'ministeress for finance' slowly and slyly, so until my wallet refills itself it's little steps.

WE have spacers in and the travel is no better than stock - the fact that we are a little higher is good thoug as it stops us getting hung up as much

Sounds like a plan to me. Longer braided brake lines down the track too and a set of 35's. oooh the missus will love the bill for those.

That's the trouble with spacers they are solid and don't compress which limit up travel compared to springs. So springs with the same shock length will let your axle articulate more than the spacers will. Also spacers can sometimes cause the springs too bind. As you might guess i'm not a fan of spacers go out and get some spring and shocks you know you want too.

JK with stock springs using 2" spacers will not cause spring binding though, so for JK owners the spring spacer lift option is valid one if they just want the extra belly clearance and no need for extra suspension travel. Basically a 2" spacer in the JK won't decrease potential suspension travel. Surprised me how well they're designed compared to a TJ actually.

If you took the time to Actually have a look, you will find 2" spacers on a JK dont bind, or limit up travel.

If just a small lift is all someone is after, it's a great option, cheapest also.
Alot of guys on this forum are just running spacers, and longer shocks, and will go the exact same places as one with longer springs and shocks (same length).

All depends what you wish to do with your rig and how much $$ you are prepared to blow.

Stock shocks are a limiting factor due to very little down travel.
