I know I have not been to a Jambo yet but if I had my choice a simple Jambo with some good trips, some good camping and a few laughs all round sounds like its worth the trip.
A few ideas if you do go ahead and you want a Saturday meal, get in touch with the Rover (18-26 Scouting organisation) and their catering side. They do a knock up feed for a bargain price and supply all the gear. As for music, the live band is cool but the conversation would flow around a big central bonfire and some tunes on the side.
A simple Jambo sounds perfect over one thats over commercialized...
