What a difference 5 years makes
Good afternoon guys, i'm in the very early stages of pricing out a replacement repair kit for my Bosch common rail fuel pump (part #612 070 000 01 (PH0004) on my JGC 2004 crd 2.7.
I've in NZ and have called a couple of places, the wholesaler won't sell to me and put me on to the distributer, the distributer won't sell me the repair kit due to the
A. it may not be a seal, it maybe the housing itself, so need to come in for an assessment. 1/2hour labour.
AND
B. Bosch will not let us sell HP pump repair kits due to the high pressures involved in dismantling of the pump, a high pressure test is also required post repair due to said high pressures, thus ensuring it does not leak after repair.
Whats your opinion on this, are they pulling one over me or does this sound perfectly fine to you???
I watch a number of youtube vids in regards to the HP pump on the sprinters and ML270 CDI models (different pumpssure, but not so different) from the units in the jeep.
My understanding is as long as the environment is clean when dismantling the unit, correct torque, take your time, apply due diligence and care to the exercise, pre-full the HP pump side after install before turning over the engine one should be fine.
I've done all the work on this jeep(rear axle bearing replacement, break shoes, bushing replacements, black death, (that was a bitch to get fix, had to be a new injector @ around $800), the list goes on and on...this is all familiar to you guys by now, so its not my 1st rodeo so to speak...
I'm now looking at sourcing the Bosch F 01M 101 456 repair kit of ebay in the uk or some other outfit stateside.
Thanks to the OP for the writeup, and all the contributers to the thread.
Regards
kelly
