God we busted our ass trying to get the Firetruck running for TT...

I have fond (sort of) memories of driving from up from Melbourne, then sleeping for an hour or so in an asphalt carpark in Windsor, and then turning spanners for about 12 hours to try and get it going.

Just when you thought it was right the electrics just wouldn't let it happen

Have you cut the rear frame rails to get some steering lock yet?
When are you going to groove the boggers?
When does the v8 (or v10?) go in?
Can I drive it?

Looking forward to the rest of the updates.

You should enter Werock at Bathurst coming up so you can just have a drive on some rocks

cheers

Hey Zach

There were definately lots of people who rolled up their sleaves to help get FT to TT. You and Shane definately worked hard in the early hours of the morning of TT. Many people should be thanked mostly so my old Man as he worked his ass off and put up with my attitude and temper. He just kept at it and had a positive attitude and new we would make it. Quick list of those that helped out:

-The Boss and Wife 'Ildi'
-Shane & Zach
-Dave Burton Bradley (Bebee DRG Racing)
-Matty (Gonads) & Moonie
-AJ (Nephew)
-Laurence & Adel (Rhino Products)
-Gordo & Big Brett
-Danny (Solid Industries)
-Ryan (Eaton Hydraulics)
-Rob & Ray (Welding Solutions)
-Nifty Nig
-Sue & Rod (Castrol Oils) 'The Edge'

Original frame rails are still there but Matty and I are making plans for some changes soon. The V10 is still sitting in Alabama until i can justify having it shipped over unless someone will ship it for free!!! I might take it up to Bathurst but not to compete, hopefully the buggy will be going again by then anyway. I dont plan to have FT compete in rockcrawling events, I like it too much to punish it!, thats what the buggy is for.

Ok, this is the start of the hub build:

Before we started we designed the GQ Dana 60 caliper bracket which enabled us to use the GQ Disc and Calipers. Once we had made the template I got them waterjet cut, which was pretty cool but we had to buff the brackets as the got surface rust quickly

We then laid out all the componets from the outter knuckle out. Then the caliper bracket was placed over the spindle.

One more pic of the spindle and caliper bracket.

Before i put the bearings into the hub I had to fitt the wheel studs. Cause we were using the GQ patrol rotor we used the GQ studs. Intially we had the wrong stud pattern in the hubs but we were able to get some 6 on 5.5 drilled, but unfortunately the wrong diameter was drill for the studs. Therefore we had to compromise and make the studs fit Attached is a pic with the studs fitted.

I then installed the bearings and slid the hub over the spindle ready to lock it to the on.
