Bigger tyres and 3" lift made a big difference for me to economy. Went from under 11 to around 14 on the highway. On gas it's 17.

The baffled one sounded pretty good but the straight through sounded awesome and a little more crisp. Decision was easy and I've never regretted it. Apparently it gets a bit drony in the back cruising at 100kmh but I dont really sit in the back and from the front it sounds fantastic like a V8 should and definately not intrusive or drony. Performance wise it definately feels stronger by the butt dyno and the speedo needle definately hurries a bit more.
Everyone that hears it reckons it sounds tuff as.
Full exhaust might give it a couple more hp but at what cost.
Only other thing I may do in the future is change the cat to a hi flow and get rid of the 2 pre cats but at the moment I'm pretty happy with it.
I did basically the same, needed to cause my tailshaft uni-joint was hitting the stock muffler on full articuation. Plenty of clearance with new one & sounds great.

What type of muffler did you fit turbo? Baffled or straight through?

I wanted to do the same - remove that bloody 6 foot long muffler and fit a shorter one - but I wasn't sure how loud and/or drony it would be.

I want it to sound like it should, but I also don't want it to be as loud as P-plater in a V8 Bommodore.

I went with a 2 1/2" offset straight through ie pipe goes in middle off muffler & exits to one side.
I find it a good compromise , not too loud but you can hear the V8 note.
I figured if it was too loud I could always fit a hotdog style muffler aswell to queiten it down, but found no need.

can the 4.7 run on gas?

i would of thought being 'euro' that it wouldn't be bilt like that.

i talked to my wifes cousin who has worked at the Magna Steyr on jeeps (and 300c incidently) for the aussie market. in europe they consider cars on lpg as "wierd".

Sure can!! Mine's been on gas for 5 years and still going strong.

There are plenty of threads on this including this one which is still on the main board:

Happy reading!

LPG is weird to anyone who has never ran a car on it before - once you get an LPG powered car you will never go back.......That is unless the price of LPG keeps going up of course
