I also modded my standard XJ airbox so the snorkel would come in through the side rather than the standard Safari point of through the front, this was a straighter route for the hose and it didn't hang down in the inner guard this way (Also since I got the snorkel 2nd hand I didn't have the bit to connect to the front). Anyway, thought I show you a pic, it was easy to do.

The blocked off bit at the front (square) was where the opening used to be.

Cheers

Excellent might be able to just modify the existing one, have you had any trouble with leaks? bit hard to tell from the photo, but it looks like the round tube is attached with resin, is that right?

The tube is actually a vent for a boat which is normal flush mounted to a wall. So a round hole was cut and the tube pushed through and on the inside there is a flange which is flush mounted and siliconed in on the inside and outside. It's also screwed down so the silicon isn't really holding it in just sealing it.

Haven't had any leak problems and you can feel the suction at the snorkel head.

Cheers

Cool Having it done !!!!

Guys, thanks for all of you.
After reading your messages regards the WJ ... I went for it.

I was lucky enough to find a shop here locally (Brisbane, QLD) with the owner knowing his 4x4 stuff.

It wasn't as easy as all the instructions made out to be, with the V8 things are laid out a bit different than expected.

Mike (my mechanic) is doing a really good job and can't wait the final results.

Will post pictures soon.

Let me know if you are interested in talking to Mike, I can give you his details.

Regards,
Dante
