heh, yeh the ash tray is still poo brown Richo. I'm trying to work out exactly what i want to do with the dash; i was thinking of making a new dash section to replace the clock/radio/ash tray/glove box but i'm not going to have enough time before i go away.

ROK360, I am currently running 31" baja claws and will be sticking with them for a bit. My suspension is also a rusty's lift bought from Wooders. When you cut your rear guards, did you re-weld the wheel arch back to the guard? or how did you work it?

This past weekend i changed the rear drive shaft and built a shelf for the rear. Just need to clip up the wires a bit to clean it up!

I haven't updated this thread for ages, so will do a quick run down of where the FSJ is at now:

I obtained new front and rear diffs. The rear diff had an ARB air locker, so i installed both front and rear diffs into my rig. Wired it up with the compresser on the drivers side in the rear.

Next on the list was to guard cut to get my 33's on. So i trimmed the rear section of the rear guard, re-bent the edge and tacked welded it back together. I used sicaflex on the inside of the vehicle to make it water tight and with a bit of paint looked like new!

A month or so ago I installed an HEI ignition to try and fix my ongoing ignition issues. It was a fairly easy install, the wirings quite simple and for the gas I was able to just connect it up to the tacho plug on the distributor.

This weekend I installed thermo fans. I used twin thermos from an e-series falcon and wired them up with a Davies Craig thermal relay switch kit from super cheap auto. I had to cut a tray for the bottom of the fans to try and make a bit of cowling so it sucks the air through the radiator. One side of the fans bolt hole lined up but the passenger side didn't. I drilled another hole out to mount it - it probably needs a bit more work but was in a hurry!

I went out for a bit of a 4wd today, the thermo's seemed to do well and keep the temperature down. Once summer comes around i'll see how they go in the heat! I may need to do some work to my alternater or get a new one, not sure how well it copes with lights on, radio etc and the thermos both spinning. Time will tell!!

Hey Purds I have a virtually new 80a alternator I took off mine when I parted it, was on my rig for maybe eight months, will bolt straight on.
Let me know if interested, but I ran spotties and thermo fans etc with no worries

Good work by the way, good to see it's coming along. How's the rear bar going?

you didn't have to cut the front bit near the rear doors ! I had to cut mine down the seam just to get some clearance with the 33's with 4.5 springs, I did it too late though, killed a couple of MTZ's in the process

Thanks Richo, sent you a PM. Rear bar is going well, so good to carry a 33" spare tyre around!

TassieFSJ - that's right, I only trimmed the rear of the guard. There's enough clearance at the front of the tyre so it doesn't rub.

Forgot about some of the other work I did last year...

September 2010 I installed an Edelbrock carby and manifold:

In November 2010, I re-sprayed the rocker covers:

In December 2010 I installed Edelbrock shorty headers:
