I just used a small screw driver, small long nose pliers and removed the rivets, took the inner guard out and replaced the old rivets when I fixed my fuel drain and that was probably 40K km ago, still good.... Usually just use the old rivets, been meaning to buy or make a tool to do it easier, "Its on the list" though.

Hope you blew the crap out of the fan box, replace the filter and leave the thing on recirc to keep the crud out.

I was looking at the rock auto website, which is absolutely awesome but I can’t quite work out what I need. I’ve found the shock mounts but can’t find the rubber bushes to fit into the cup of the mount. I’m assuming that’s the part that’s flogged out rather than the mount itself. Although I’ll replace that aswell I’m wracking my brains where to find the correct rubber bush as all the images I’ve seen of the mount don’t seem have or include the bush. Unless I’m looking at the wrong part.

The top mounts include the rubbers which are vulcanised to the metal mount and washer

mount and washer which goes over the shaft.and yes its the vulcanised rubber bush that degrades>all in one unit

We have the Export model with Nivomatt rear shocks so you need to make sure you get the right mounts bog standard shocks are the wrong ones.

I don't see them listed on Rockauto at the moment...
but ideally your after Mount Shock Upper and Bumper Jounce which fits on the shocky shaft ............... must suit Nivomatts and go for 2 sets ..... I would give you some numbers but my book isn't handy ATM.

I'm assuming its a Laredo without air .

Ahh I see. So the images that I see of the top mounts that seem to have the cup on the bottom side, is supposed to simply be where the strut sits, and obviously pushes up through the centre of the cup through the hole. With the mount bolted to the chassis either side. But wouldn’t that be metal on metal…. I.e the top of the strut against the inside edge of the cup on the mount?

Ahh yeh ok that makes sense. So I’ll also need the rubbers to fit over the top of the shockie shaft inside the cup. Is that right?

The rubbers that fit into cup as pictured are the bump, stops.I took them off and siliconed them back into the cup. As Drover said also,if you have Nivomet shocks they have a larger shaft size.I got the Dormans as pictured.
