An adjustable torque rod on a XJ? Never seen one and was something that would be found on the front axle of Hiluxs in the 80's!

ive got a bit of a change in plans now, looks like i will be going with a 2 inch kit after reading all the possible problems ect.

And it seems that with a 2 inch kit and 30's these jeeps are very capable truck offroad, the other benifit is that i will be off the radar of the Transport department and the mrs will find it easier to drive and handle as its also her daily driver.

Now the question is do i need to drop the t case still and is it worthwhile getting swaybar disconnects and a adjustable panhard?

I may get the springs re set so they will sit at 2 1/2 and get 35mm spacers for the front to give it a small bit extra.

You will be better off with new rears rather than resets. The old four leafs are just not really up to it in the long run. If the back end gets a litle stiffer with new springs, you may find you will need a slightly heavier duty front set. I did my rears first and then it handled a bit ordinary until I got King's 40mm + on the front. She is handling much better now and at the present I am still running really old stock shocks. Soon to be replaced by a set of Rancho adjustables. Agree on the 2" you never know when you come accross a knarky "coper" who sends it over the pits. Hey unlikely but I am sure it has happened.

regards A

Thats right anthony,

Got a start on the other mods last night, and bloody hell these jeeps are packed full.

First of all took on the mission to drill a hole through the firewall to install the aerial cable and UHF. This took a while but is now done.

Removed the stock front door speakers and installed the 6X9's using spacers and alot of cutting with jigsaw.

Installed the aerial and then went to do the spotlights, i ended up getting some 220mm spotties but it turns out they dont fit the tabs on the ARB bull bar. So these will go back later today and ill get some 190's.

Tonight should see the replacement of the tape deck with a fancy CD player, replacement of the serpentine belt "old one was buggered and making a gringing type of noise" and will also replace the idaler bearing.

Tomorrows plan will be installing the engine watchdog system i just picked up, flushing out the cooling system as the truck can get to just over the half way mark on the temp guage while sitting at lights and im sure this is not a good thing.

Depending on how much time i have may get started on prepping the bonnet for a respray in black and cowl modification for heat dissapation.

Wish i could take a week off work so i could go a bit more steadily, keen as to go camping though so im working like a mad man.

Just to let you know but the temp at a 100*C is normal for these and the fan doesn't even come on until 105*C. The engine lasts longer at this temp and is more efficient.
