What do you drive currently and if it is a 4wd how do you use it?

My personal opinion is that if you want a JK to perform as reliably away from the city as a Patrol or Landcruiser you will need to spend some money on the steering particularly. The stock stuff just doesn't last when you use it hard and its pretty difficult to drive them when they don't want to stay on the road.

Either vehicle will easily perform the tasks specified above and do it well.
Both vehicles have weaknesses and in some cases well documented issues....
Really just drive both vehicles, get the missus to drive both vehicles - then buy the one you both like better.

i didnt know with the seats down there is more room in the JK.

i was after an 07-08 jk wrangler 4 door deisel with auto gear box. for 32-33k i can defiantly pick one up

im starting to lean more towards the JK

I perhaps need to qualify here. I was referring to the GQ and not the GU with respect to the interior room. If you remove the rear seats completely from the GQ it is bigger than the Jeep, but folded only the Jeep is about 100 mm longer. The interior widths are almost identical.

Your price range will get you the CRD Jeep but it won't get you the CRD Patrol. So for your money you would be getting a far more advanced engine.

i think the GU are a strong reliable rig, never owned one and never will but we have a few in the club and they do reasonably well on the trails but not in the leauge of the JK.
the GU's in our club have had a number of issues however but they do wheel them so it is probably normal. Personally after owning a JK and seeing the GU's in action on the same trails the JK wins hands down.
For touring purposes the GU is the pick as stock but JK can be a good tourer if set up correctly and i find them pretty comfy as well

This argument has been done to death......
but once more.
For me, GU 4.2 for touring and towing. Space, strength, reliability, no electronics, kills the JK every time. Aftermarket and mod parts are far more available for the GU. Try getting a JK fixed in the middle of no-where, let alone computer issues......

With the 4.2 (not the 3.0 or petrol models), resale value will also outdo the JK as well.

Daily wheeling, esp the harder stuff, the JK.
