I went to the top of Mt Welli in Hobart with heaps of snow in an old car with stock radials without a problem.

Some of the boys who went on the last Jambo told me how they had HTs and still went some hardcore places, check the pics on the Jambo site and that will show you some of what it was like.
I have been pretty impressed with my Maxxis ATs. When I was researching I ended up asking the question what pecentage they were on/off road after getting some advice. Not sure if that helps or makes your decision harder.

Have you Googled Baja ATs? It might be a quick way to read some reviews. Also have you seen the tread pattern on the Baja ATs they may be fairly agressive anyway?

yeh i have couldn't find much regarding usage in the terrain i'll be looking to get out amongst, i have seen it in the flesh and there is a link in my first post i found them a bit tamer then the mtz but more aggressive then say the 5 rib atz and naturally the km2 being a muddy is more aggressive then the atz

Got ya

If it were me, I would make do with what I have until you can get your first choice, MTZ, (even if it meant I missed out on a trip) and be completely satisfied in what I got. There will always be other trips to go on, and you will be happier knowing you are running your first choice of tyre on all subsequent trips.

Just checked the link and they do look a little different to the more common patterns I saw when looking at tyres such as Bridgstone, Maxxis and my least favourite the Kumhos among a few others. Most ATs I saw had fairly agressive edges with a thick blocks in the middle for bitimun driving.

It sounds like you are still in two minds. It does make it hard when you anticpate getting something and walking out with what you had not given much thought to.
I was like that when I wanted Dueler ATs. There were none in Aust and the wait was 6 weeks. I needed something urgent due to illegal tread depth. So ended up getting Maxxis ATs. I am pretty happy with them like I said, and the price was a lot better than Duelers. Mind you I could only go by my experience of Wranglers and they were far less than ideal. Definitly too much sidewall movement not to mention HT design. The ones they are offering you look like a nice tyre but without proper reviews it hard to say.

Here is something I found I think it is the same tyres as your mentioning

I ended up sticking with the 4rib ATZ's told him i was abit worried and he set me straight.
He is prepared to back them 110% for what i ask in a tyre and go as far as changing them if i am not happy after next weeks trip upto barrington tops.
Was told i have a great car for offroad as it is, and i'm getting a great set of tyres that wont hold me back.

Thanks for your input,
Matt

Very interested to hear what you think of them, and how much they set you back all up, been thinking of the same tyres myself, except maybe in the 265/70 size.
