Low range does not disable traction control, only ESP is disabled. TC will try to slow you down if wheel spin is detected in mud or sand, overheating the brakes and rendering them useless. Disable TC by pressing the ESP button for 7 seconds.
Cheers

Yeah same thing happens to me.

Yom changing your driving style may prevent this happening but for those of us that would actually like to try to get up a hill on our own accord rather than driving like a Toyota driver and pussy foot up there and not make it is not what it's about for us all.
You maybe happy with that solution but that's not the solution many of us find acceptable but rather discover a means to rectify it

Holding the button for 7 seconds is only useful for high range as low range engaged essentially does this for you. It is no benefit doing it in low range

the only solution to pull the fuses or cut the wires. you have to get rid of it altogether.

just adding i am a near absolute noob offroad first 4wd and i can count the amount of times i have been out on 2 hands, although a ton of research and giving it a solid effort have gotten me pretty far.
So just to kind of clarify a locker seems the best remedy albeit expensive, and even then its only because you will have less wheel slip, besides that changing your driving style which i dont quite understand how you can not put the clutch in when your fanging the accelerator and going no where so to put on breaks you need to put clutch in. Does anyone know if the Crazynuts mod works??

It's called a stall recovery. It's one of the first things I believe you should learn to do.

When you can proceed no further in low range, you put brakes on and stall the car, no clutch but keep your feet on the brakes. Pull the handbrake on (a bit dubious on some wranglers) and check to see if the car sits. Then you use you clutch and put the car into reverse. Release the clutch and then the hand brake. So the Jeep will be sitting on the engine compression. Feet on the floor turn the key and the Jeep will idle back down the hill. Then try again, better line, more herbs, etc.

Practice it on a small hill and you've got a safe way of coming back down the hill.
