Did you check the receiver module in the roof console? The fact that the doors lock/unlock with the switch but not the remote points to the receiver module...There's a pretty good diagnostic procedure in the service manual...

Hi Cypher, No, havent checked yet as some guys thought the reciever was in the LHS front door. But it makes more sense for it to be in the roof console. I dont have a service manual. Are you able to post the diagnostic procedure here ?? or is it too big...Thanks for your help....

I'll see if I can post it up later this evening. The passengers door contains the control module for the lock/unlock circuits but the roof console is where the remote receiver is located.

The bloody remote door locking has started working again !! and I havent done anything to fix it..Oh well I will see how long it stays working this time..Must be a loose connection somewhere I spose...

I,ve never seen an XJ that the remote locking works correctly.!!!

Just an Update..Sometimes it works for a few weeks then stops for a few weeks, at the moment its not working..In a few weeks it will start working again !!

mine works fine , (99) it played up once like yours all it took was bending the contacts in the fob up a tad .
