Just to put some closure on this thread, I spoke with VICROADS and they have advised me that I cannot replace the headrests with headrests from another vehicle, even if it was the same manufacturer, unless it was signed off by a VASS Engineer.

I have Option Audio DVD replacement head rests, easy to install, I can put them into the wifes car if she is taking the kids somewhere (they are a universal fit) they have radio activated dolby surround sound so we can put music DVD's in when we are up the beach, wirles head sets so we dont have to listen to the kids shows, they have play station with 300 games already pre-set, they can play individual dvd in each or can be linked, they come in grey or black leather look, they have location adjustments so they dont bugger up your neck.
I got my set for $650.

Wow, these definitely would be worth the money if they were NOT made in China and had real leather upholstery?

This suggests all the after market generic DVD player headrests are also going to have the same legal issue.

One thing I have noticed with all the after market headrests I looked at on eBay is that they do not have a decent ratchet system in place to hold the headrest still in the event of your head hitting the head rest, thereby making them useless in any sort of rear end accident.

That said, I wish there was a better headrest available for the JK, I too find the stock one really annonying.
