I have the 2nd battery in the back under the flap thing

I had the rear muffler removed and a bigger cubby installed

Tidy and out of the way, I'd much prefer it there than on view above the wheel arch or under a seat (if they explode?!?!?)

your diesel will sound meatier and perform a little better without the muffler also (especially with a CRDStu GDE tune!)

I have thick battery cabling running down the length of the car to the rear for the 2nd battery

plus I have a bit more secure under floor storage (not loads of space left after a 2nd D31a though)

Make sure you cage the battery with heavy duty straps mounted to the roll bar if you don't want to where the battery in an accident, the wheel argue metal is very thin & doesn't take much to the rip the bolts from the sheet metal, much safer place is under the front seat

I take your point but I have 5 x bolted with washes/braces so I've minimized chance of moving but may revisit with your advice.
I don't want it under the seat as it's ugly there, not convenient and fitting would need a customised fixture of some sort to hold it down

I'm running the new Arkpak in the rear, pictured on the left, it powers all the accessories in the rear of the jeep from fridge, lighting, chargers, air compressor and anything else, I have a 130 amp hour battery in the pack, I also have the pack charged by multiple ways
when driving a DC batt charger
when at powerd site an Ac charger
and when in the field solar dose the trick due
