Hi Drover,

Think is was just a failed/worn washer... then just a gunk build up... should really check these things more often and don't presume all is ok...

Cheers

I took the engine cover off years ago and since I am always off on a Sunday I check under the bonnet then, I cleaned up all around the injectors and check them each week amongst all the other bits too make sure I get no surprises.

Not to bad a price, could have been a lot worse.

Makes me wonder if a little squirt of WD40 once a week could help as preventative maintenance for when they do have to come out.

I reckon a bit of clean engine oil is likely to work quite well as my injectors around the oil filler were easy to pull. I often get a bit sloppy when I will up the engine.

If the injectors are installed with the correct ceramic grease I reckon you'll be OK, if not this is when you are likley to have problems.

The first time I pulled my injectors it was an easy job. I reinstalled as per the manual instructions with anti-sieze lubricant, I used never sieze and this pretty much failed for me.

Injectors 4 and 5 are a problem as they always seem to cop a hiding at the back of the engine, must be more heat back there.

Run the engine with the bolt loose. It will pop it every time in my opinion as the only reason its stuck is because the black stuff sets very hard like stiff plastic. When it gets some heat into it it will let go. You will hear it let go as the whoosing sound will increase.

They can get stuck even if the seals are still good. Essentially there is a tight clearance between the head and the injector and it doesn't take much to make them hard to pull. Keeping that crap loose is the key IMO.

The loosening the injector bolt is a good idea if it is stuck though, but you may not always be in a position to do this, particularly if the engine isn't running.
