Doesn't Triple J run through a heap of repeater channels around the country, it's probably not the best test for FM reception. Wife's car has absolutely hopeless reception as well unless you are in Brisvegas and the factory radio that was in my WG was not much better.

TripleJ was the station said to be having trouble getting so that was the one I tuned in too. About an hour out from Philip Island heading east the reception got to poor to listen to.

Bringing a thread back from the dead but just sorting out the wiring to see if anything has to be run up into the roof space and came across the radio aerial amplifier.
Looks like this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2006-JEEP-.../192076636088?
What I don't know is where it was mounted as lead from the back of the head unit is pretty long? Also appears to have a plug that looks a lot like one for a 9 volt battery?

Think it mounts above the rear cargo window where the glass aerial is? Laid the rest of the wiring out and seems to workout. Coax must run up the A pillar and right along the top of the doors to the back while the rest of the wiring runs along the floor and up the D pillar!

That's one section of my Jeep that I haven't had apart
sorry I can't help.

Manual says
Quote:
The primary coaxial antenna cable (1) is routed behind the A-pillar trim, up the right side of the roof panel above the
headliner. The cable is connected to a secondary instrument panel antenna coaxial cable with an in-line connector
that is located behind the A-pillar trim. At the other end, the cable is connected to the antenna module (2). The
instrument panel antenna cable is then routed behind the instrument panel to the back of the radio.

What is interesting is that it is only on the export models to have the aerial on the glass rather than externally. Might have to do that too or I think you can buy aftermarket window ones now and can put it on the back window.
