I'm sure it's a very stupid question - but I've never installed a compressor and plan on it soon - I'm probably going with the ARB twin.

Is the stock battery sufficient enough to run the compressor off?

And if so, is it a simple hook-up via the terminals and again, if so, do you need to install a switch between the two so it doesn't drain the battery when it isn't in use? Or is there a kill-switch on the compressor itself? Do you need a fuse on the line in to the terminal?

Basically ..... Anyone got a how to? Haha!

JGB - that's a lot of questions there

I've got the ARB CKMA12 High Output On-Board (not the twin).
Runs fine off the battery but works better if the engine is running.
I've got a dash switch (came with the compressor) and yes there is a monster fuse in-line.
The ARB compressors come with VERY DETAILED install instructions (almost a book ) but some of the instructions relate to air-lockers.
You can also get a twin that doesn't mount 'on-board' if you want (CKMTP12).

Perfect! Thanks so much man, appreciate it!

Off to ARB to get a compressor and give it a shot!

I have my twin mounted in the back

with the switch just beside it but I will be moving the compressor once I get a set of drawers and will mount the switch up front somewhere, 32's from 16 to 35 in 50 seconds and I have done 8 tyres in a row and could still rest my hand on the compressor with it only just being warm.

The ARB twin with tank is an impressive unit for tyre inflation but I am not sure how well it would run a rattle gun or air drill etc. The specs claim air flow under load @ 30psi to be 4.68CFM. The CFM figure is good but generally air tools need much higher psi to operate. This link shows a handy table for a range of uses based on 90psi: http://www.engineeringtoolbox.com/ai...ols-d_847.html

I can vouch for the quality of the ARB single. Have had one for 4 years and use it regularly to re-inflate my muddies that keep going down from dirt in the bead...

My setup. The rubber cover over the air outlet is just a chair leg end

Pumps up tyres ok but not the fastest so will be relegated to just lockers when the new CO2 system is finished
