If the other driver has comprehensive send a letter of demand to his insurer , but i suspect you have left some information out of the original post as a solicitor would have already done that on your behalf .

I have been in your shoes before uninsured (shitbox car) and insured driver at fault hit my car, no police involved no witnesses driver admitted fault .
So i thought it would be simple until i received a letter of demand from her insurance company and blaming me for the accident and wanting payment within 14 days .
Not knowing what to do no internet to consult (pre internet times ) couldnt afford legal help .
i took my ass to the library and started reading found some useful information and sent a return letter of demand with 3 quotes stating that payment to be made in 7 days or i would take legal action to recover including all costs .
Next letter i received was a cheque , it took longer than 7 days but i got my money and shitbox fixed lol.

Yeah I had someone hit my car a few months back and she blamed me for the accident (I only have third party).
Spoke to their comprehensive insurance who said they will assess it and said she was at fault and they fixed my car up straight away no questions asked.
If he has comp insurance it should be a very easy process. What vital pieces of information have you left out of your background...

No offense intended here but it boggles my mind when people can afford a 30-40k jeep but cant afford comprehensive insurance. Its simply a must. What happens when your pride and joy gets stolen and your still making repayments for next 4 years on something you dont have?

Do you have any insurance at all on your jeep? I will never drive without insurance. Surely you are not driving it with no insurance whatsoever.

If you get a default judgement against him, that's an act of bankruptcy if he then doesn't pay. For a small extra fee (compared to legal fees to that point) you can apply to the court to bankrupt him, that's basically automatic then. As a creditor you can probably put a lien on his assets (check with lawyer), either way as the creditor petitioning to get him bankrupt you stand at head of queue of unsecured creditors.

Perhaps that might cause him to speak to his insurance company!

I'm with Jimmy on this one, dont understand why you wouldn't have comprehensive on a vehicle of this value! If you did your insurance company would be doing all the fighting on your behalf and all it would have cost at most is your excess.
