So I took the rear-ended White XJ down the bush, in 4wd, hooked up my heavy chains around a 2ft tree and the towball, have her about 10ft and and rammed forward twice, damm near gave myself whiplash, but the tailgate now opens!
furthermore, the towbar, which had a distinctly downward pointing aspect is nearly horizontal.
the big crease in the chassis is now very much reduced
all-in-all, a very good result, so much for hydraulic stretching machines
it did put a 6" deep groove in the back of the tree, and my neck felt pain, lucky the airbag didnt go off, although I never exceeded ~10kmph
there is a lot of gear in this vehicle, the extra rear seat will be surplus to my requirements
it has 30 X 9.5 tyres with heaps of tread, havent been able to date them yet.
the whole vehicle is in fairly good condition, and is full to the very brim with spares.
I intend to swap front & rear ends complete, front alloy bar, front skidpan, and a few other items over the next couple of weeks
