In that price range the JK is better value considering a 2012 model you'll be looking at 40,000km for the JK and over 100-200,000km for the Prado in the same price range. Yes the Prado will be more comfortable on long country highway drives but off-road the JK will leave it for dead. They are actually very different vehicles and the Jeep is more of an offroader where the Prado is more of an off the shelf tourer. The Prado is limited by its IFS so is 2" lift and slightly bigger wheels and that's about it but tats what makes it better on the street. The JKs dual live axles is what draws people to them. Your only limited by your imaginationand can fit 35s with a. Minimal lift and 37s if your prepared to go higher and do a bit more work. Long range fuel tanks are also available for JKs which you can buy with the money you saved.

There was an engine change from 3.8 to 3.6 in the petrol. The 3.6 is a great engine and worth considering over the diesel but avoid the 3.8 unless your on a budget which can be had quite cheap.
2012 also was the interior change. I prefer the newer one but it's up to you on that one. At 5y/100000km the diesel is due for a timing belt change which isn't cheap so be aware of that when buying. The provent is a very good investment to stop the intercooler blocking up with soot and the samco silicone intercooler hoses are much more reliable and cheaper the factory rubber ones.
From memory in 2010 the diesel was upgraded with more torque and something about a particulate filter a couple of years later but I don't know much about it. I think the diesel is mostly the same over the years and a couple of years ago they added stop start which has a different tachometer. the my14 had it when I was buying but I'm glad I chose the petrol In the end. There is a couple of diesel specialists on here so have a look at posts by midnight mods and DarrenR
