You may not have ever noticed it?

I didn't previously as I simply don't drive that way and had to test it after reading the other thread.

Was in either low range 2 or 3, pointing down a long steep hill which resulted in the car still picking up speed and instead of holding the gear it shifts up (and picks up more speed until you brake).

Yeah that's why I'm asking for the criteria to test it mate.

So:
- does it affect a manually selected first, or just gears above that?
- is it exclusive of throttle input, meaning absolutely no accelerator input was applied?
- can anyone provide a definite lower RPM threshold when it occurs?

Cheers,
Steve

Doesnt the later WK2 have a different transfer case ,not as robust as the earlier model or the WH.I seem to recall quite a few owners with failed transfer cases.

The WH uses the NV245 TC, 2011 onwards (wk2) all use the same transfer case, MP3023.

I've heard of a few failures with the wk2 TC, but this doesn't seem to be the problem here. Its just transmission programming.

I have the same issue with my 2014. It happens with manually selected gears in 1st, 2nd and 3rd. Not sure about higher gears.

For me, it will do it in all low range modes and all high range modes except mud in high range.
It will usually shift around the 2500 rpm mark.
It feels like the car gets an unrequested throttle input as the engine braking stops, the car starts to runaway and then it starts shifting up.

It's shit but I've learned to live with it, hopefully this might be something the new GDE transmission tune addresses.

so rather than work through these things, you're willing to go to straight to the legal pathway ?

Have you had S49 recall applied? Seems to have been a few trans changes in that besides just the Auto-Park feature.
