No lift - 245/75r16 is probably the max size....

Yep, i'm currently running 31" BFG AT's at the moment.
Excellent on and off road. Better grip in the wet on road, and a lot quieter too.

Mate - buy a good second hand set of 30x9.5" BFG MT's...

My nostra-FireTruck prediction is that within a year you will be ready to upgrade anyway, so why dump the cash on high $$ tyres.

Try it out - when you get a feel for what you wanna do you can spend the $$ to get there.

Right I am now a little confused but enjoying the different responses I am getting. Here's the scenarios -

1) I keep the Renegade standard wheels and upgrade the tyres. I understand that a 245x75x16 would be the go.

2) I get new wheels and tyres.

What size wheels and tyres in scenario 2 do you reccommend? Would I get a 15" or 16"? I'm not going to get a lift kit so I want it to fit nice with the standard suspension and guards.

Damo,

I gotta ask - Why so antilift?
The stock suspension in a TJ is seriously lacking. I simply got tired of dragging my bum along on even simply firetrails.....Even a simple OME 2½" will transform your ride.....

I'm not against it at all. In fact I love the look of it and functionality. But I live in the city and don't see myself doing much in the way of 4wding in the near future. I'll be doing more gutter hopping for parking in skinny streets around Balmain.

PS - OK you got me interested now. How much for the 2" lift? Will it effect the warranty?

Damo,

Firstly Warranty. Well if something were to break that was caused by the lift then yes you're warranty would be void....But then you'd be talking to whomever fitted the lift ;) so you'd be ok. If it's say your Airconditioning, or your seat, or your electrics or your....etc...then warranty IS still valid.
Plus with a 2" lift the dealers barely glance at it - mind you if some of us with >5" lift rocked in with a claim.....

As for the cost - well the prime difference there is would you want to pay someone or DIY? If you DIY expect to pay about $900 for all the parts, if you get it fitted expect to pay about $1200... (mind you I'm very rusty of the prices these days)...

Ask a few questions here - you'll quickly see it's a very common modificaton and you'll get plenty of feedback....
