HG i can't really comment too much, but i'd say that the factory must have a reason for putting them backwards after all their R&D $.
then again GU scoops are forwards.
theres a few big debate threads on OL about which way to put scoops..

I cant remember where i saw it. But the re is a write up of this somewhere and the guy went to a lot of trouble to find the hot spots in the engine bay and to also find where the high and low pressure areas are.
The vents are facing back cos there is a low pressure area there while driving so it sucks the hot air out. This would not work nearly as well if the vents were facing forward.

The air goes through the radaitor and out the bonnet vents. If they were to face forward you would have the air going in through the vents and trying to pressurise the under bonnet area so it will be harder for the fan to pull in air. At hwy speeds the what ever air comes in through the forward facing vents dosent come through the radiator. If u no what i mean
