I had the 9000's but not the in-car on my XJ(that's just being lazy Grant!!!)
I found that they worked best with the rears one click softer than the front. Maybe something to do with leafs initially sticking before flexing?? Dunno, but it always seemed better that way.

I have been playing with mine a fair bit and you are right it is being lazy but hell it makes tuning the ride so damn easy I am currently trying them on 2 round town but 3 seems to be the alround best on blacktop (with in cab the higher the number the harder the ride so 1 is softest and 5 by the dial (9 equivelant) is the harshest you can actually measure how much it lifts it up (highest pressure lifts it almost 15mm) Off road (training grounds last sunday) I tried every setting from softest to harshest (real rough ground soft (1) is best) for ride comfort
Biggest advantage is that the adjustment is so easy to really fine tune

Cool. Sounds really good and with such a change it would be really easy to get what you want. Like Extreme Jeep said 'Each to there own'.

Are adjustables really necessary on the front? I would have thought that the rears would have been required more and have a greater effect overall.

Cheers,
HB

Default settings

Just so that everyone knows here are the correct way of setting Rancho 9000 series shocks (went and got the paperwork)
It seems that a lot of people are setting their Shocks wrong
I shall take some photos with tape against back showing the different levels at different settings with same load on board at all times

I am seriously confused.
Softer suspension means more comfortable ride on rough surface.
Surely that is the case.
Offroad with tight shocks would decrease your suspension travel.
I dont know
I give up.
BTW Why do they give only 5 settings when there are 9 on the shockers.?
