So this is the Viscus Fan (Mechanical Fan) where exactly has it broken. The fan clutch should bolt to a pulley that rides on a bearing shaft where has it broken? Are we talking about the actual shaft sheered off...?
It's the thermo fan behind the radiator. Theres no bolts connecting it to a pully. Just a plastic fan has come away from the the motor. It looks liek there is some wear. I'll get a photo tonight.

I am sorry but that is hilarious!! Why would you even consider doing what Jeep assist has suggested, not that you did and I am glad you told him/her to blow it out their arse. How moronic is that person!! maybe that person has a massive sales/budget! Still giggling to myself. Actually I wonder if they even knows where Gove is?? Sonik maybe you should send em a post card! Saying thanks for your arsesistance.

Hahaha. "Thanks for your arsesistance" Very good.

He kept telling me there was no other option!! But I think you're right. He must have some huge sales budget coz he was quite insistant that we get it towed out.

He told me they had a case last week of a BMW in Broome that got towed to Perth for repair at a cost of $6000 and then the owner had to fly down and drive the car back at his own cost, coz they wont return it to you if you break down within 100km of home.

Here's photo of the fan. You can see where it has come away from the motor mount.

Good thing I got the Rubicon huh? With the extra tough axles and all that. Only to be undone by a pissy fan.

A thought
It is possible that the fan doesnt like to get too wet in a water crossing with lots of resistance from the water while the fan is spinning. Maybe a cut-out switch??

Sonik, might be a good idea to take a pic when it is back and fixed. Just in case it happens again. God forbid.
