Rad cap should release excess press so it shouldnt cause rad to fail.
These plastic rads are known to fail (see other threads) after about 7 years.
If you get sudden massive coolant leak the temp gauge actually goes down cause the sender is designed to read coolant not air, meanwhile the motor is cooking.
Unknown, but I have a supspicion this might be the case as it never got above 3/4 on the guage.

The rad cap would have spat stuff everywhere if it had pressurized but $7k is ridiculous, may as well go the recon donk and get a decent warranty, bloody quicker th chuck an engine in than bugger around with heads and stuff.

That brings the question: the HO recon motor is cheaper than the standard V8, but will it bolt straight into a 99 limited?

Anyone know?

Thanks for that will do.

I'm just removing all the crap at the moment that will get in the way - Compressor, extra bash plates etc.

Regards

Bill

HO motor would bolt up but PCM software would be different.
Should still run allright but to get best out off it get PCM reflashed.
Might be best option cause if motor did get excessively hot ,heads could be soft & rings lost spring tension.

HO engine is not an easy swap. Completely upgraded computer and yours cannot be reflashed to suit this engine. Also the crank angle sensor works on a different number of pulses and you cannot trick it to run properly: stick with non HO motor or youll have some big headaches and expenses. Plenty of guys have bought these motors and had to sell them to get the correct engine for there GC.
