The doorway access step looks like a possible clearance problem. Any ideas to raise the floor and make an external fold out step or similar? What brand and size are the access hatches? I am hunting for some of those.

Good luck and keep up the great work!
Thank's for your comments I won't know the final weight for a while as there are still a few more thing's to do as for cost we payed under 10k for the van and I hope to have it finished for under 15k but I have done all the work myself so that doesn't include labour. To strip out a van and start again is posible but all the fitting's are thru the walls so it's hard to get a clean start.I have considered doing something with the step but don't want to raise the floor as this makes access difficult I will probably make some sort of rock slider to protect it, the doors are Seitz available thru most suppliers (i got these thru caravans plus an online store) the one on the offside to access under bed is 700mm x 400mm and the other one that will eventualy be the slide out kitchen is 700mm x 300mm but they are available in a good range of size's

Great work!

It's something I've been thinking about for a while, just haven't got the balls to have a crack at it.

The outside kitchen is one of the first things that I'd want also.
To me that's one of the biggest downsides to a caravan/poptop, who want's to have their bed smelling like old food...

Nothing like sitting on a nice lounge playing cards and drinking when it's pissing down and everyone else is stuck inside their tents!

We only really use it for sleeping in and loved the outside kitchen our tvan had so it was allways in the plan to make one for this. Here is the cooker and sink that I will be using. There will also be one or two small drawers underneath.

Those sink/stove units are expensive, but look brilliant. I like the ones with glass covers, great for keeping out sand/dust..

Just sold our Kimberley, and kind of missing it.

I'm looking for a cheaper project, but we're a bit spoilt now and most of the cheapies look shite...

There are a few of this type of van on ebay at the moment expect to pay around 8-10 for one in really good condition, ours was like new inside and they are not hard to modify.

I haven't even finished building the first one but pretty much finished designing the second one!! I just need to finish something so I can use it!

Green, is the sandwich panel an available product? I've been looking at glass over ply but sandwich panel has some advantages.
