Interestingly I would have said yes and agreed - but I just downloaded the installation instructions and as you say they dont mention it, but they did have a pic of the front left installed as you did - and its got the grooves the same way..

you are correct Grahame, next size up for BF Goodrich (for me anyway) is 285/70/17.

now i am confused. My mechanic mate told me they were the wrong way around as well

That diagram is confusing. It says slots & vanes should angle backward, (as we thought), but it has the vanes backward & the slots forward?

They need to make up their mind! Those slots should be aligned with the vanes, not perpendicular.
