Agree. 5 Yrs is about as far as the battery can be relied upon.

When my battery died the RACV told me the alternator tested fine. I had a feeling it wasn't consistent though and since I didn't fancy getting stuck in the middle of nowhere and possibly frying the new battery as well, I had an aftermarket (Jaylec) alternator fitted at same time.

I'm still on my original.

I'll change it before my next big trip since I've reached 6yr mark.

Sounds like it’s time.

I was playing with the evis and before attempting to start the vehicle it is only reading as 12v and I would have thought it should be closer to 14.

Still need to get it load tested as I’d like to know if the battery really is cactus even if I’m going to replace it due to age.

Looked up a couple of tutorials on using a multimeter to do it, but might just get someone who knows what they’re doing to do it anyway.

I have since been in contact with FCA and they have asked for all my details and will contact me later. We will see.

What are the odds of FCA finally admitting there is a fault with the alternator..?
One replaced would open the door for many others.
FCA told me to contact ACCC and see how I go.
Pretty cheeky as it is a dangerous situation when the fault shuts the car down.It will take an accident and someone injured to change FCA s attitude.
Good luck and keep us posted.

They told me to keep all my receipts, I did that, that was in late 2017, still no call from them about a recall, I doubt they will
