Hi blacky10

I'm interested in the advancedice navigation system with the Hema maps as I use Hema maps extensively off-road. Were you happy with that system? It seems like an ideal discreetly integrated solution for my purposes.

Thanks, lindisfarne3124

Hi lindisfarne3124,

I am really happy with the advancedice system. It has worked with no issues and is simple to use. To select navigation you press and hold the mode button, which is RHS rear of steering wheel, after a couple of seconds the screen switches over. To go back to Normal give the button a single press.

If you go into reverse the camera is still shown regardless of what mode your in. There are a couple of things that are a little annoying like the volume not muting for a phone call and not seeing who is calling if you're in Nav mode. You need to switch out of Nav to change any vehicle settings with the soft keys or just to see what temperature the climate control is at.. But this becomes second nature and the system is really quick.
All the parts are installed behind the dash which is very discreet, no one who gets in the car knows it's there. It was a big decision given the cost and potential issues regarding warranty but I am really happy and would do it again.

Hope this helps, if you'd like any more info feel free to ask.

Blacky

I've had the advancedice navigation unit installed by Prestige Off-road in Melbourne who did a good job, took half a day. The hardware is mounted in the glovebox on the top shelf which makes it accessible for updating maps etc via the memory card. I've only used the street Nav so far but it has been working very well, relatively simple and intuitive to use. I'll be trying out the Hema mapping in a couple of weeks time but expect that will also work well. Having it integrated into the existing screen is a real bonus, no mounting iPads etc to use the Hema maps. Switching between the advancedice screen and the main factory screen is very quick and easy. I'd say this is an excellent solution for a Laredo without factory navigation.

Hi DGZK,

Just joined the forum and saw your post. Very interested to see how this is going now and have you had the car in for a service since?

Cheers

Off-road for the first time the other day and used the off-road Hema mapping in the Advancedice system. It worked very well. Swapping between Hema mapping, street nav and the standard screen is quick and easy. Only minor issue with the unit is that the voice instructions for turns in street Nav are occasionally whisper quiet and inaudible, this happens randomly. I'm sure it will be sorted in due course. Generally I'm very happy with the unit.

What's the integration like?

Sounds interesting system.
