Mine always had a drink of water cooled 2 stroke before this DPF stuff, mainly as a pump lube and I did find the injector bleed back was nearly as good when brand new after 250,000km so assume it must do some good where others bleed back was quite a few ml more than mine............. pumps never gave any trouble, some say snake oil but I know my WG pump was schmick, so who knows.

Mate! I hope so, I got a 1lt with my flashlube catch can and use about 90ml per 5th tank full. I've not had any dramas with it.

Some discussions about the potential recall over on one of the Facebook pages today. The Bosch pump has been a known issue in other brands such as GM and Ford, and subject to class actions. https://www.forthepeople.com/class-a...XxYUcUePtFhw2Q
Pain in the arse, and don't really want a dealer ripping off the front and diving into the engine to replace it, but I like that Stellantis is putting their hand up and acknowledging what seems like a rarely occurring failure. Going to take a long while to sort out though - how many diesels in Aus do we think? 30 or 40k?

Question is, is failure inevitable for all pumps at some point?
I'd just be happy in the knowledge that if the pump does fail and cause damages, that Stellantis are obligated to pay and fix the problem.
But as you write LeCheese, the bigger issue is allowing some half wit TA employed by a Dealer to start ripping bits off the engine without a clue what they are doing.
I don't think I'd be volunteering to have the pump replaced "just in case" it were to fail.
I'd take my chances that I'll be lucky for the life of my Jeep by taking extra care...

It seems like the failures are quite rare - if it affects all VM diesels from 2012+, you don't hear about it as much as you'd think. Probably the reason other companies who have used the same Bosch pumps (e.g. GM and Ford) haven't opted for a recall, instead replacing under warranty as a known failure. Seems Stellantis is taking more of a risk-averse approach, as it could be a safety issue - which probably stems from them trying to turn around the reputation FCA failed to shake.
Now that the recall's been flagged, you'd think (or hope) any fuel system issues with similar symptoms would be covered by Jeep/Stellantis (who would no doubt pass it on to Bosch).
Don't think there's anything you could do by way of extra care to help avoid failure; if you're unlucky, you're unlucky.

Thats my reading of it too @LaCheese, seen elsewhere the usual panic talk but they never seem to look into things, issue has been known for years but at least FCA has said that they will cover the pump as well as fuel line contamination, meaning injectors, fuel rail etc where GM I think would only cover the pump...........
