I've seen a few JK getting around with custom made alloy bars (I think there's a mob in Toowooomba QLD making them) but they look rubbish.

Mind you at $1600 it would still be cheaper than the full retail price of a new ARB/AEV bar. Possibly still worthwhile as a low production run if you can get a few deposits.

then their is the added cost of getting it crash tested. If enough people say ya for an ally bar I can easily go ahead.

I do however have an ally stubby bar with steel winch mount designed for a jk (even fits a tj with different mounting brackets) but this would not be ADR comliant, and be sold as offroad only.

I'll put pics up soon. And yes sliders are coming soon. I must say though black jack welding make a great looking slider for JK's

The tow points you mentioned

are they recovery points and if so will the recovery points have a tested recovery rating?

Im not sure I'll be rating the tow points (paying for testing.) Due to the nature of recovery and the potential forces involved I would need to test them to an unknown figure as all the forces in a recovery are not known.

I could rate them to lifting standards but that is very different to recovery. At the moment they will be designed to take a recovery (theoretical) but snatching from them will be at the owners risk. Winching from them no worries

This is why arb have removed them from their bars now, you need to cover your ass in this sense and i can understand why... won't deter me from buying your bar aslong as its obviously over the top reinforced!
I don't think you will find the market in an alloy bar.......
