If the log book side of things aren't too important to you and you have the time to learn, I'm more than happy to teach you how to service it and change everything yourself! I have no idea why everyone says Jeeps are a PIA to work on... Honestly do it a couple of times and its a piece of cake also I'm only about 30 minutes away from you depending where you live

Agree, changing Oil is a piece of cake. Diff oils a breeze, compared to my XJ where I had to pull Off the Cover to Drain. Auto transmission is a pain though.

I have learnt that if the dealer starts this sort of thing, always ask them how much. Rarely does it need to be done that day. If you agree so bi it, if not tell them you will rebook it soon after you think about it. That way when you get it back , you can do some research etc etc.
I've saved a few coins by buying the mopar parts online and handing them the parts at service, that way they charge the labour cost which I understand is set for the service. but please correct me.
I recently bought a set of 3 oil filters for peanuts as opposed to teh $30++ they wanted to charge

You're dead right. last year we owned merc a190 and that's exactly what they quoted us, Ended up doing it in my driveway pads & rotors for under $300. It really is very easy as long as you use right basic tools & torque bolts and follow basic safety procedures.

Last service , o check the tyres , there's a rattle in the front, and a ecu warning light on = $ 4300 . Gotta love Mercs.

I'm just a whining POM so what do I know

stealer told me I had to spend $880 for rear pads and disks(rotors) on the KK after 36000 KM...why do you call them rotors? helicopters have rotors! I digress
Dealer was not aware I have a degree in automotive engineering and the Mrs is a fully qualified mechanic changed my own pads at 55k disks were fine.

KK has just passed 120,000 on the same disks and just had 3rd set of rear pads. I'll change the disks with the next set of pads at 165000 (55k x3)

That leads me on to another question - this "machining rotors" - whats that all about? never did that in the UK. Seems to me like another stealer made up excuse to charge us?!?.
