I've had my TJ since new and it's in pretty good condition. I plan to keep it long term but I am concerned about the PCM's in these things as they all seem to eventually fail.

What would be the replacement cost, roughly. So i can budget if I go ahead and buy the TJ.

Hi mate,

the usa forum threads are full of issues. You can't buy new replacements as Jeep don't make them anymore however they are apparently going to start making them again due to high demand - they'll be around $1500 usd. You can get second hand refurb ones for about 1/3 that price. Most issues have to do with the PCM playing up with autos around 2005.

As far as my TJ goes, it runs great, sounds great, no rust or major issues and still turns heads. Most of all it's fun to drive! I guess i'll have to keep it so my kids can learn to drive in it. My young fella can't wait to get into it every chance he gets.

Cheers

I also have a spare tj which I plan to turn into a camper trailer but also a storage device for my assorted doors and tops dependant on my needs at that time. Possibly cut it at the cowl and throw in as much glamper gear options as possible haha.
You're an animal HG as usual

Hi guys haven't been on for while, moved back north, new job, getting over double knee surgery, but getting back into the TJ mods now. Just ordered the Sharpwrax super spoiler roof rack, and Mishimoto alloy radiator, I have the terraflex adjustable top rear arms to fit also. Like you guys, I don't know what it is but I love my TJ. Agricultural, noisy, not much refinement, uses heaps of fuel, wouldn't trade for the world. Must be something seriously wrong with me. I just love working on it and driving it, wouldn't owe me 20K which leave me miles in front of the 55K plus accessories type blokes I 4 wheel with. Out does most of their rigs in the hard stuff. Yep I think I will be keeping it for a while, can't see anything else out there that take my fancy.
