File "SOME" amount evenly all the way around the inner circumference, until, it slids snuggly onto the bottom of the strut. ( it is something like 1-2 mm or so) people have also, just cut the ring and flexed it open to go around the strut.

A good and tested way, is to glue the two colars together with a PVA glue, dont lock them in a wide open vice you will change them from circles onto ovals, grip them on the side edge, and start filing, or if you have a demel grinding away, turn them so as you gring evenly , also, get a niko maker, draw around the inner edge so as it creates an even boarder to follow around as you grind. Then, when it all slips neatly onto the strut, simply pull the two apart. Bob's your Uncle.

I bought mine from Morris 4x4 online:

See this page:

http://www.jeep4x4center.com/jeep-st...liberty-kj.htm

but cmohr thought some of their stuff was junk so you might want to try elsewhere.

I think most Australian Jeep parts desks should be able to get them in a couple of days from the warehouse but ring ahead because I'd be surprised if they stocked them at most service centres.

Josh, Mansfields probably has them or would have a reasonable price. I have bought things from them over the net and phone and they shipped to me overnight.

The ones I got, were "Crane" brand, cheap chinese, they last 3 weeks in the car only driving to work. Fros later bought some and they were original part ones (the ones made in mexico) and were fine. Just check with Morris as to which they are going to supply.

Ick, I have 10mm Ironman packers in mine, I didn't have time to fit them but
the mechanic who fitted them said they needed some filing out too, I find that
10mm may be a little too long and I am not really happy with how far they
sit the shocks up in the clevis. I would stick with the 6mm ones that Glend
is using to be safe and maybe also use a top plate as well.
I have Iron man shocks as well and man did I get stung on those packers,
somewhere around the $60 dollar mark.
For top plates have a read of this by Tonycrd (also a memeber here) good info shared by Tony. I also like the thought of using a high density plastic
to reduced vibration input over steel.

Just a note on the Prado Packers. They ( the OME95PF5's) are rumoured and seemingly advertised to be 5mm high but measuring them with my micrometer showed they were 4mm high.

After trimming down, the internal diameter of the packer should end up about 56mm to fit over the shock collar. The ring inself will be about 3.48mm thick at that point.

I found that taping them tightly together (around their outside circumference as recommended by cmohr) worked well and allowed them to be trimmed down together thus saving some time (just trim off any tape that laps over the outside edge). Even with a Dremel tool it does take some time to remove enough material to get it to fit over the shock. I was going through all of the grinder wheel attachments that I had trying to trim it down. I found that a 40mm diametre drill chuck flap wheel in a very course grit (like 60) makes good progress (better than the Dremel) but it does make the ring very hot.

If you can, put your electric drill into a vise or clamp it to something solid - with the flap wheel installed in the drill you will be able to just concentrate on holding the ring assembly (with leather gloves is recommended due to the heat the ring absorbs).

Because the grinding and sanding removes the coating on the inside, I painted mine so that they will not start to rust.

They are ready to go in as soon as the rain stops.
