Yes, time for a new engineer. You mentioned different diffs, and I assume different brakes. What diffs have you used and what size tyres would normally be on them?

I have mentioned a few times that my brother in law just had a Pootrol engineered in NSW with +4in tyres. He has increased the braking power compared to stock though, and needed to do a braking test as well as the swerve test as well as having all the mods fully scrutinised.

The biggest difference is that they are now liable for work they approve, they also need to maintain 7 years of run on insurance if they leave the industry in case something happens. As such the approved people are either rejecting it out of hand (3 companies so far don't want to know about it) or willing to do it for allot more than it cost before and on smaller tyres.

The latest list can be found here http://www.rta.nsw.gov.au/registrati...ads/vsccs.html (Licensed certifiers document).

The other difference is that the roads authority is self insuring the scheme. On any claim, the excess payable by the certifier is $25,000 and they have told engineers they are likely to just process all claims, without fighting them.
So every certificate carries a potential $25,000 liability to the certifier, according to my engineer. Which effectively means destruction testing of components and each vehicle must pass ADR's set. But it now means that the same test that applies to a GTR Nissan, Porsche 911, etc, now must apply to a heavy four wheel drive.
My Jeep won't even do 160kms/hr, but now has to in order to assess braking performance.

So some clarification i got today. The story goes that in total the increase in height should not be more than 6" including the tyres minus 50mm for the allowed tyre increase.

I will know more once it has been inspected and i get the nasty fix list.

Recognising this is an old thread... was curious what the current view is.

Specifically on your clarification, whether the total increase in height not exceeding 6" is referenced anywhere.
