ignition switch is not the problem must be a wiring fault we have one auto sparky in town so im booked in to see him last hope.

looks like you were right clarkey about acid leaking from the battery they have taken out the cpu unit and cleaned it up but some of the wires further up have been affected by it and they are now replacing it. lets hope this does the trick.

well it was the problem the acid leaked into the cpu unit but they will send it away to get it checked out and revamped so we don't have this problem again the sparky a new guy at ashburton 4wd and mechanical did a great job on finding the problem after taking it to two jeep dealers a guy in a small county town has solved the problem.
maybe it pays to shop local.
am also getting two led spotties fitted to the jc one spread and one spot lights up like daylight . I do feel so relieved after all the crap that has gone on cant wait to get back out into the scrub again.
