Default Out of my comfort zone!

Similar story here, I went with decent all terrains then a 2" lift, then front bar-work, sway bar disconnects and a inboard compressor. I had the recovery stuff from previous.

I've put on 110k now and can't complain. There has only been 1 situation that lockers would have been good. I will get them, but for me it's a set of 33 inch tyres next..

Cheers thommo

Mate, I say, it's your car and your cash. Spend it were you want. The boys do give good advice though. My JKU is only 6 months old and have a bunch of mods but no lockers. Yet to find a place I can't go... Including Straddie and Fraser. Lift, tyres and pressure, that's the ticket on beaches.

Enjoy your car. They are amazing fun. Have a chat to some people with amazing knowledge. In Sydney go see the team at Double Black Off-road. They won't sell you stuff just to get the coin out of you. They will help you buy the RIGHT gear for your needs.

You will love Fraser mate. Us Queenslanders area bit spoilt having Fraser, Straddie and Moreton. Not to mention, Bribie, Double Island and so many others.....

Cheers

Welcome Sinh

Lockers are great, but even a stock Sport can do most stuff without them. Tbey have the Electronic Brake Lock Differential, which is sales speak for a fancy braking system. When wheeling if you get it hung up so 2opposite wheels are in the air for example, put your foot down and make them spin. The computer will respond by applying the brakes to those two spinning wheels only, transferring power to the two still firmly planted on the ground.

As for sand, as others have said, no need for lockers but do air down. For example stock tyres should be between 16 to 20 psi depending on conditions. The softer the sand the lower the pressure.

As for tyres sticking out, there is actually only one rule much ti many people surprise, and that is that no part of the tyre or rim I is allowed to stick out past the guards. Easy fixed though with sime screw on rubber flares like from Roadrunner Offroad (look them up on ebay). Legal tyre size is a completely different subject, but lets be short on that and say strictly speaking if they stick out past the stock guards or are larger than 33's they are not legal (irrelevant of stick in flare extensions)

I'm going to contradict everyone here and say if you are financing the vehicle and the lockers are being bundled in.. get them.. you will eventually want them and then need to save the cash later..
But also allow for some better tyres.. a lift and some barwork

Now your starting to listen to what others are telling you...good man.

New to 4x4 myself, I upgraded in this order over a year (the lift was last)

AEV bar work front and rear (recovery points)
Changed out stock tires to Wangler MT/R in the same size
UHF on-board and hand held
Recovery gear
Winch
AEV 2.5 lift

I wheeled at a couple of 4x4 parks with no extra lift and was very surprised where the Jeep went all due to me never owning a 4x4 before, lockers are on my list but a long way down that list.

Next up for me is full under body protection and Trailskins to protect the paint work, plenty other stuff after that to help me see this great land, it really does pay to work out where you will be playing and try to get out with other Jeeps to see if you need the stuff you think you want.

I'm looking into new rims and tyres at the moment. Either bfg A/T or km2. Unsure of the size and offset but would like to get them soon after I pick up the car. AEV front bar is a must for me, not too sure about the rear tho.
