Arrgh, there's the crunch I fitted them myself, it's actually quite easy but if you get them to do it well add another $300 probably, only need some flat concrete, trolley jack or a decent bottle jack, 2 spanners, a couple of bricks a socket set helps. Takes about 2 hrs at most allowing for a stubbie or 2.

So apart from the kit, did you have to add any other bits like longer sway bar arms or track arms, etc to get the extra lift apart from the shocks and springs and bushes for the front or back.

I take it that you have to drop the front and back end to replace the springs all round and to get to the shocks in the front.

You don't really need to drop the front diff either to get just the shocks out. When I do a lift I jack the car up by the diff, put stands under the body, remove wheels, disconnect sway bars, unclip anything like brake lines if they are bolted to diff, remove shocks, and anything else that looks like it will limit droop, then lower the axle down till it hangs freely. Normally this is enough to do most lifts without spring compressors. You can often then push one side down that bit further if you are a little tight. I've even put a small jack between the control arm and body in the past to push it down just that bit more if needed.

If you stay under 2" you can usually get away with just the basic components, springs and shocks.

Sounds like it might get a bit complicated if I don't know what I am doing, which I don't, I would hate to start pulling things apart and then find I don't know how to put things back together again and then my wife would do this to me.

Or it is all fairly obvious?

If you're not feeling confident then it probably isn't for you but really it is not that complicated. There is nothing to actually work out like some car work you just undo stuff, pull out the bits you are changing then bolt it all back together.

I reckon I could just about do a basic lift with no dramas in under an hour. Most important thing is think safe, make sure the car can't fall on you.

If it is fairly obvious then it shouldn't be a problem I should have all the tools required, I have 3 car trolley jacks and a 11t Bottle jack, stands, sockets, rattle guns etc. My problem is that I had major heart surgery about 6 mths ago and although I recovered I appear to now have a very short attention span, probably as the result of the anesthetics and the freezing process, so I will start to do things and then have to work out where things come from, pain in the ass but that is how it is. So if it is obvious I can work out where the parts go just can't always remember where I took them off from. Things like the shockies and springs aren't an issue, it's things like ...Oooops .. where did this bolt come from if you know what I mean!
