All people can see is cars, they don't know how much their lives depend on diesel engines from trucks, trains and ships not to mention back up gennies, pumps and the list goes on, all they see is some motorized shopping trolley that gets them to the shop... Big laugh is it was pointed out to me that trains are all electric and have been since steam was replaced so could replace all these trucks, they didn't believe me when I said they are diesel/electric the motive power may be from an electric motor but the electricity is from a bluddy great diesel engine .......... just too many dumb pricks around... I'm all for cutting pollution, always have been and well before it became fancy, when you were born near Port Kembla in the 50"s you knew about pollution, just needs to be thought out properly.

Agree with you there Drover, memories of growing up down in Windang, on Lake Illawarra,
then when we headed up to Sydney, passing through Warrawong where cousins lived and worked at the Steel Works, then go past the Port Kembla steel works, everything had that black hue, due to the coal dust, and I mean everything
no EPA conformity back then, but good memories to say the least

There's the simple crux of the mess we find ourselves in, supported by an education system designed to ensure the problem grows exponentially. Kids indoctrinated by weird ideologies become dumber and factually deficient by the generation, producing ever more lemmings who just follow the loudest mouthpieces.

Had a great childhood first at Warrawong on the big hill, then we moved to Unanderra before some joint in the bush on the shores of Lake Illawarra called Oak Flats, miles from civilization my sisters reckoned, now it's in the middle of a Colorbond jungle stretching from Stanwell Park to past Kiama, prawns, sailing and fishing, paddocks to run around and ride over, bunnies to shoot and now all gone caused by another pollutant called suburbia............... where others want to enjoy the same lifestyle so build there and then wonder where it all went.......
Mind you at 15 yrs old I joined the Navy, no steel works for this fella but my memories didn't get lost by progress.......... I still remember the bush town by the lake, dirt roads and dunnie up the back yard.

Remember we use to go out to Macquarie Pass for barbeques most weekends, walk around in the beautiful fresh water coming down from up top, I still remember the beaut gurgling sound of the Ol mans 273 ci V8 VC Valiant Regal as we drove up top to Robertsons Pie shop, I probably wouldnt recognise it now, one other thing that comes to mind is just how thick the fog gets up top of Bulli Pass and I mean 10 foot in front of you is all you can see, My brother and cousin both you to race each up Mount Ousley in their new soft top MG,s ( The Pommy two seaters by Morris) and see who could get up top first, The extractors use to glow red.
Remember when my sister and I use to go the local Take away and get 10 cents worth of hot chips, made up of two 5 cent bags, or walk up to the Servo with an empty quart milk carton ( which is a litre nowadays ) and get like 20 cents worth for our Deckson mini bikes, the bloke operating the servo use to fill them up, now you would get shot Ahh Memories
