So it happened again up a hill while not towing, yes the instant fuel display showed the bar going down like it wasnt getting fuel/power. Quickly manually changed down to 4th gear and it went down but still didnt increase power, then after 5 seconds it dropped to like 2nd or 3rd gear and took off like a bullet with the error code again locking out the use of 5th gear and not locking the TC

Update on my mates W58 recall! Bellbourie Jeep Coffs Hbr took nearly four weeks
to fix the W58 problem.Initially told him he would be paying for the auto removal
.However on my advice I told my mate any BS tell FCA you would be straight to the ACCC ! Bellbowrie then told him it had been done at Lismore Jeep, two years ago ! More BS. Anyway hes got the vehicle back now ,they charged him around three hundred for who knows what ,but FCA are going to reimburse that cost.!

It really sounds to me like a faulty Transmision Control Module, it is part of the whole engine running set up and your description does sort of match when it malfunctions ................. I think its found under the dash over the tunnel or under the centre console, the unit under the passenger seat is the Transfer case Control Module...... Part number could be 5150808A* , but I would cross reference with the number on the actual unit, the * means it could be any letter from A to H

As others have said ,take the vehicle to an auto shop that can run a full diagnostic check on the NAG 1 ,Mercedes 5 speed auto..These checks include revelant module, solenoid, sliptest ,wiring continuity tests etc.Of course one would assume that it had the right level of atf in it?
