About 20K i noticed the whine. It was there prior but not enough to be annoying.

Quote:
It sounded like a whining/grating sound (like a shaft or CV actually, rather than a diff) coming from the front and sometimes the rear under acceleration only. If I back off, it goes away.

Worst occurrences are between 65-80kmh and again at 100-115 kmh. It is road speed rather than rev's related.

It was so loud that the first time I heard it, I turned to Jenny in the passenger's seat and we both said, at the same time "What the f***'s THAT noise?" It was really quite loud, almost as though a bloody great piece of bark had wrapped itself around a driveshaft and was rubbing badly.
Definatley different to my problems. I'm going into Craft later this week so we'll see what they say.

Where's Craft Diffs? I might need to take mine there!
Somewhere in Granville.

Fixed!

5 days....

Replaced rear wheel/axle bearings, crown wheel, pinion and all other associated bearings in the rear diif.

Front - replaced crown and pinion plus their bearings only.

Now it's quiet again.

Just wonders all over the road now. Maybe they didn't check the alignment after the job. Small-fry problem.

Jeez it's nice to have a car back that doesn't cause embarrasment in the traffic ... the problem was so loud that people would look....

All good now!
