Novated lease through work. All fuel and running costs come out before income tax, but still get hit with fringe benefits tax. Wheel over 25,000km in a year, and FBT is only 11%.

And certainly from what I've been reading here, a Jeep specialist seems to be the way to go. Especially if going by the service handbook, it'll be in for a service ever 10,000km. I've only had it for just over a month and I'm already a third of the way there!

And to continue on the tangent away from the thread topic .... generally I've heard that diesels can be serviced less regularly than petrols, provided fuel and oil filters are looked after, but the KJ wants a petrol service every 15k, and the diesel every 10k. Or is that just for precisely that - fuel filter check and oil change?

Off topic a bit, but with servicing your KJ, there are two schedules- "A" and "B", as well as petrol vs diesel.
"A" schedule- diesel 20k, petrol 12k.
"B" schedule- diesel 10k, petrol 6k.

"B" schedule is for vehicles subjected to dusty conditions, short trips, long idling, regular towing etc.

Refer to your owner's manual for more comprehensive information, odviously.

Nothing wrong with getting someone else to do your servicing, as long as it's done in accordance with what's in the book.

I've had good experiences with my dealer servicing. I have had the KJ in for a number of problems and they have gone out of their way to fix it (all still under warranty of course). They have just replaced part of the drive shaft and while it was in for that work they also replaced the front discs for the brake vibration problem reported by quite a few owners. I didn't even realise I had a front brake problem.
